Habitual negative thinking

One day I heard a young man talking very negative about his life.
It was sad that at his age he saw everything as bad in some way. I talked to him for a few and during our conversation he would keep leaving the room. I realized I was not agreeing with him on his opinions. It was not his time to hear what I had to say and that is alright.

His Situation brought my attention to a question that is as profound as it sounds.
"Where is the comfort in Misery?"

Is it the familiarity? The comfort of knowing that we can at least always feel down. Or may it be conditioned stimulus to the world from our past events. One thing is for sure, negative thinking and talk is just like any other bad habit. It can be very hard to break, and can almost be an unhealthy obsession.

It is not only bad for the person speaking this way but is also a downer for those around them. People will tend to withdraw and not want to be around the individual. I have been on the receiving end of people not wanting to be around me at one time in life. To be on the receiving end of negative vibes is mentally and physically taxing. You can't blame people from withdrawing and avoiding.

There is nothing wrong with venting and getting life off your back for a minute. Complaining is a luxury humans have and use frequently. I do believe that if your not changing those issues, stop talking about it. Nothing is resolved with running the scenario over and over again. Hence the cliche "beating a dead horse".

We need to be vigilante, yet realistic, about our negative processes. After all, it is merely a habit and not always reality. It is funny to think that doctors think they can cure this with a man made drug. Fixing human instinct with foreign chemicals is fundamentally flawed. As with most biological circumstances they can be manipulated with healthier habits. A few simple changes can totally change your life.

Cognitive discipline: Completely controlled by the human being.
We can learn to grow from our experiences, and not through chemical assistance.
You and I possess the ability to create a wonderful world where "it is what it is".
Imagine running into an "impossible" situation. Imagine walking away from that situation at ease. Knowing that any energy going into it must be positive. Positive attention to detail will allow us to walk away having learned

Back to the gentleman I spoke of earlier.
I do believe that he is just in a funk. Growing up is very difficult and stressful. Being a kid is an adventurous and dangerous period of our lives. So vulnerable, Fragile, and this entire time our brains are developing. Making the map of how we will perceive the world our entire lives. His map is being forged in the past, and he will catch up to the present. I know this. He has many more years to live, and many more years to charge forward and be happy.
