Love Thy Neighbor: What does this mean to you?
Take a second and think about it...
To me it says love the people you must co-exist on this planet with. Have consideration, compassion, and understanding for their ways and beliefs. Even if we do not 100% agree with everything they say and do, treat it with compassion. For there is no one action we can take to forever change a persons will in life. For us to want someone to be different because we do not agree with their views is kind of selfish. It also displays the insecurities we may have within ourselves. If we choose to manipulate someone into changing for OUR good, then that defeats the purpose of their existence.
One area that has really struck a key with me is religion. This seems to be the one area that people have little or no tolerance in. Some of those who believe in something, want the world to share their beliefs. In their conquest to share their beliefs they may tend to judge or hold those who do not in a different light. The person may be a good person, but the lack of belief is the reason for the bad things in their life. Or their life could be better if they shared their belief and practices.
Once again we are defeating the purpose of LIFE if we must manipulate people to make ourselves feel better. Lets take a look at the individual. Is a belief system appropriate for them? Is that not their choice to make? Absolutely it is their choice to make, no one elses. To impose ones will upon someone is dictatorial and a violation of "FREE WILL". We were all given "FREE WILL" to exercise our own choices in life. If their were no free will, then we would all be mindless puppets going through the motions until we left this earth.
The next time you find yourself at odds with someone, take into consideration what may be going on in their life. What have they been through. Whats going on now. How do they feel. What makes us right and them wrong? Acceptance of the unknown is the beginning of accepting "FREE WILL"
